The Very Best Service Dog Vests

Posted by sitstaydogs

May 12, 2014 12:37:00 PM

Last year's Boston Marathon bombing was devastating in so many ways. There were 3 people killed and 264 injured. Out of all of that turmoil there is one incredible story that involves a couple and their service dog. The couple is Patrick Downes and Jessica Kensky, and their service dog is an 80 pound black lab named Rescue. Both Jessica and Patrick lost a leg in the bombing. Rescue has helped them to recover both physically and emotionally; he keeps them going even on days when they feel like giving up.

This is just one of the examples of how service dogs better the lives of the people they serve and humanity as a whole. They are truly amazing animals, and they deserve only the very best. If you are looking to give your service dog a service dog vest that he or she deserves then you are in the right place. At SitStay we offer a wide variety of high quality service dog vests that are durable enough for any and every service dog. Our vests come in a wide variety of colors and sizes. You have the option to purchase one of our Ready-To-Wear Vests, which comes equipped with patches. You could also purchase your vest and your service dog patches separately.

Rescue and so many other dogs like him are changing lives every single day. Don't they deserve to wear only the best service dog vests available? Ensure that you find the perfect fit for your dog by watching this video. Order yours today and enjoy free shipping on every order of $75 or more.

How to Cope With Chewing With Dog Chew Toys

Posted by sitstaydogs

May 1, 2014 12:34:00 PM

Dog owners often ask trainers how they can stop their dog from chewing. Well the answer is you can't. Chewing comes as naturally to dogs as breathing. Chewing can keep their teeth and gums healthy, relieve boredom, entertain, and relieve anxiety. A good dog owners doesn't discourage chewing, but teaches their dog better chewing habits.

Helping your dog form good chewing habits is easier than you might think, but it will take some patience, determination and lots of consistency on your part. The idea is to discourage your dog from chewing on your shoes or your couch, while encouraging them to chew on dog chew toys. A good way to do this is to replace your shoe with a chew toy while they are chewing. You can also encourage the use of dog chew toys by putting food or treats in them.

Consistency is one of the most difficult parts to training a dog to do anything, especially when you aren't able to keep your eyes on them 24/7. While your dog is learning it is a good idea to limit their space while you are gone. You could try kenneling them or putting them in a smaller room, like a utility room. You will want to leave them with water, a pee pad (if they aren't house trained yet) and plenty of dog chew toys to keep them busy. Keep in mind that a bored dog will learn bad habits, such as excessive barking, to keep themselves entertained. Keeping a wide variety of chew toys around is a good step to keeping them entertained while you are gone.

Change the World With Service Dog Patches

Posted by sitstaydogs

Apr 23, 2014 12:33:00 PM

April 27th is National Pet Parents' Day, and in honor of that special day, New York Jets' wide receiver Eric Decker has been working with Veterinary Pet Insurance to change the world, one service dog at a time. They have been raising money to rescue, care for, and train service dogs for veterans who are returning from the war with disabilities. The average cost to take a dog from a shelter and provide them with the necessary training is around $25,000; Deckers Dogs has made it possible for more and more veterans to get the support that they need.

Service dogs can do so many things for veterans, physically and emotionally. They can help make the transition to using a prosthesis much easier, they can turn on and off lights, and they can even provide emotional support for veterans with PTSD. These are just a few of the many things that service dogs can do for our veterans, but in reality nothing can quite compare to the support that provide us.

At SitStay we are dedicated to showing support for the service dogs that serve our veterans every single day. We do that by teaming up with many organizations throughout our country and by providing high quality, cost effective service dog patches and vests. You can choose from a variety of vests and patches, but each one is made with the same high level of durability and comfort. Enjoy great deals and free shipping on every order of $75 or more when you shop our site today.

Spring has almost sprung, it is steadily starting to get warmer. Thank goodness we can finally shed our sweaters and boots for shorts, capris and t-shirts. With Easter just around the corner, we thought we’d help you (and the Easter Bunny) out with some special Easter and Spring themed treats (if you forgot Easter is April 20th, but these treats will stick around a bit longer through the end of spring!!!)

Jones All Natural Rabbit Jerky

The Rabbit Jerky Easter Pack is a yummy combination of FOUR packages of Jones All Natural Rabbit Jerky. If your pup has yet to try them, do yourself and your pup a favor and put them in his Easter basket this year. Rabbit is a lean, wholesome, gamey protein that will have your pup lickin his chops for some more! **If you are already a lover of this Rabbit Jerky then definitely get the pack, we are offering it at a reduced price**

Sam's Yams Carrot Crunchers

The Hopping Easter Treat Pack features THREE bags of Sam’s Yams Hoppin Good Carrot Cruncher Cookies. These “cookies” are not made with any grains, flours or fillers, but made directly from fruits and vegetables. Like many of Sam’s Yams products, they are made predominantly of all-natural sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are one of SitStay’s favorite superfoods. These Hoppin Good treats also have carrots (mhmm, duh), apples, and a bit of water. These Cookies are a bit like a chew, and will be a nice treat to keep your pup occupied (and clean their teeth).

Wet Noses Treat Bundle

The Hop Into Health Easter Treat Pack includes one of the newer brands to SitStay.com - Wet Noses. Wet Noses is all about good, fun, organic ingredients. We are offering TWO Big Bones (Large Bone Shaped Cookies) in the Apples & Carrots and Peas & Carrots flavors, and ONE package of Wet Noses biscuits in the Peas and Carrots variety. Wet Noses only offers organic, USDA approved fruits and vegetables into their treats. You will find NO fillers, by products, preservatives, corn, wheat or soy!

Max & Ruffy's

These GoodDog approved treats are all-natural, organic, and vegan! They come in two different sizes (a bigger cookie for a treat, or smaller for training or small breeds). Max & Ruffy’s are great for dog’s with allergies or intolerances to certain ingredients. The flavors in the treat pack include one of each (all 5 oz): 24 Carob Gold: Strawberry and Carob, W.P. Spring Cleaning & Your Dog

Posted by sitstaydogs

springcleaning_fido_blog

Groans. Spring cleaning. The time everyone can anticipate when the weather starts to turn, the dust bunnies are starting to multiply, and that dreaded loss of the precious hour of sleep and turning our clocks forward. It's finally time, we are shedding our winter coats, boots and clutter for shorts, longer days and warmer weather! YES!

When making your checklist of necessary cleaning supplies, don't forget about Fido & the kiddos! Be sure that cleaning products are made of all-natural products or are NON-toxic. These two labels are very important to ensure that when our favorite family members are crawling/walking around the ground and cleaned areas they are protected from harmful chemicals.

It is so easy for children (four-legged children included) to get in to mop buckets and open containers when your back is turned for 1 second. So, make sure to set your pack up with a fun activity in the backyard or a confined space where you won’t have to worry about them coming across cleaning agents! (and this prevents them from creating more mess while you are trying to clean one up)

It is also a good idea to watch for any flare up of allergy symptoms. Cleaning can expose mold spores, dust, etc. Signs of allergy symptoms: excessive itching, runny nose, dry nose, biting, irritated eyes, etc. Properly throwing away materials cleaned with or doing a second spot clean can help these symptoms subside.

ALSO make sure you are always cleaning up after your favorite four-legged friends! SitStay has all of the essential receptacles to make sure the job is done! Including a few adorable poop bag dispensers that can easily be attached to leashes so a bag is always on hand - literally.

ECOLI IS BAD
Also, in the spirit of spring cleaning keep it fresh and bright with lavender scented poop bags! And for the human varieties: Poo Pourri for your own bathrooms: the before you go poo spray to ensure only pleasant odors!

Welcome, Spring!

Spring Cleaning: Don't Forget Fido's Pantry

Posted by sitstaydogs

Mar 31, 2014 1:30:42 PM

fidospantry_blog

Spring cleaning is in full swing around SitStay (and at home)! We all remember to cover the bases: sweeping, mopping, dusting (yes, that means dusting under things too!) and removing as much clutter as we can.

Spring cleaning can also mean a fresh start for your pantry, AND Fido's pantry. When was the last time you got your favorite furry friends a new bag of treats? What is the expiration date on the old ones? While spring cleaning you always want to be checking labels. Feeding Fido (and yourself and other humans) old or expired food can be harmful, and just isn’t enjoyable for your dog, and surely won't be enjoyable for you when cleaning up the result.

After checking the date on the label, be sure to check the quality of the ingredients. To ensure that your pup is actually getting the benefits from the superfood or featured ingredient, make sure that ingredient is near the top of the list. Ingredients are listed by the percent content it makes up the product.

While ingredients are important, what is the brand telling you? Is this brand environmentally and pet friendly? Are they trying to make a difference in the life of your dog or just trying to make a buck? SitStay believes in only featuring brands that are beneficial to your pup! Remember, we only recommend products that we also feed our own dogs!

A few of our favorite brands include:
- Max & Ruffy’s
- Wet Noses
- Evanger’s
- Scout & Zoe’s

Happy Spring, and happy cleaning!

Enrich Your Dog's Life with Dog Chew Toys

Posted by sitstaydogs

Mar 31, 2014 12:30:00 PM

Did you know that dogs that are not properly stimulated are more likely to develop behavioral issues and even health issues? This is a difficult issue for many dog owners because, unless you are lucky enough to work from home, your dog is probably left alone for many hours a day. When a dog is bored they will do what they can to entertain themselves, whether it be chewing on your shoes or barking at the mailman. At SitStay we specialize in all things dog, and we can help you to enrich your dog's life with the best dog chew toys around.

Having a wide variety of toys around is a great way to keep your dog from getting too bored. You need dog chew toys that can occupy their mind like the Kong Genius Toy. This toy can stimulate your dog both mentally and physically. All you have to do is hide a dry treat inside, hook the pieces together, and let your dog search away. Another great toy for your dog might be the Knotted Teddy Bear Dog Toy. Variety is important, and most pups love to play with a fuzzy teddy. This is perfect because, instead of messy stuffing, this teddy has a durable rope inside which makes it a great toy for even aggressive chewers.

If your dog is chewing on things that he or she shouldn't or barking excessively, then it is time to make their environment a little more entertaining. Our dog chew toys are high quality and affordable. We even offer free shipping on every order of $75 or more. Shop our site today.
